Styles and Wine Composition:
WHITE WINES
  • Ansonica or Insolia or Inzolia (Wh): Minimum 85% Ansonica + OAWG
RED WINES
  • Rosso (Rd): 50–70% Nero d’Avola; 30–50% Frappato
  • Calabrese or Nero d’Avola (Rd): Minimum 85% Nero d’Avola (aka Calabrese) + OANRG
  • Frappato (Rd): Minimum 85% Frappato + OANRG
  • Novello (Rd): Minimum 80% Frappato and/or Nero d’Avola + OARG


Significant Production Rules:
  • Minimum alcohol level: 11.5% for Ansonica and Novello; 12.0% for Rosso, Calabrese/Nero d’Avola, and Frappato
  • Aging: For Rosso, minimum approx. 5 months (ERD = March 30, V+1); for Calabrese/Nero d’Avola, minimum approx. 7 months (ERD = June 1, V+1)
