History: Established as a DOC in 1969; Colli Euganei Fior d’Arancio (Fior d’Arancio Colli Euganei) was established as a separate DOCG in 2010

Vineyard Area: 540 ha / 1,334 acres (2022)

Production: 19,750 hl / 219,400 cases (5-year average)

WHITE WINES
  • Bianco (Wh): Minimum 30% Garganega; minimum 30% Glera (locally Serprino) and/or Sauvignon Blanc; 5–10% Moscato Bianco and/or Moscato Giallo; maximum 30% OAWG
  • Chardonnay (Wh): Minimum 85% Chardonnay + OAWG
  • Garganega (Wh): Minimum 85% Garganega + OAWG
  • Manzoni Bianco (Wh): Minimum 85% Manzoni Bianco + OAWG
  • Moscato (Wh, WhSw): Minimum 90% Moscato Bianco + OAWG
  • Pinello (WhFr, WhFrSw): Minimum 85% Pinella (locally Pinello) + OAWG
  • Pinot Bianco (Wh): Minimum 85% Pinot Bianco + OAWG
  • Sauvignon (Wh): Minimum 85% Sauvignon Blanc + OAWG
  • Serprino (WhFr, WhFrSw): Minimum 85% Glera + OAWG

  • Cabernet (Rd): Minimum 85% Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and/or Carmenère + OARG
  • Cabernet Franc (Rd): Minimum 85% Cabernet Franc + OARG
  • Cabernet Sauvignon (Rd): Minimum 85% Cabernet Sauvignon + OARG
  • Carmenère (Rd): Minimum 85% Carmenère + OARG

SPARKLING WINES
  • Spumante (WhSp): Same as Bianco, Pinello, or Serprino
  • Moscato Spumante (WhSpSw): Minimum 90% Moscato + OAWG

Significant Production Rules

  • Moscato dolce cannot exceed 2.5 atmospheres of pressure
  • Minimum alcohol level: 4.5% for Moscato (10.5% potential); 5.5% for Moscato Spumante (10.5% potential); 10.5% for Chardonnay, Garganega, Pinello, Serprino, Pinello spumante, and Serprino spumante; 11.0% for Bianco, Manzoni Bianco, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon Blanc, Tai, Rosso, red varietals, and Bianco Spumante; 12.0% for Riserva
  • Residual sugar: Minimum 50 g/l (5.0%) for Moscato dolce and Moscato Spumante; other spumanti can range from brut nature (zero dosage) to dry;
  • Aging: For Riserva, minimum 24 months (ERD = November 1, V+2)
