Styles and Wine Composition
WHITE WINES
- Bianco (Wh): 60–65% Fiano; 20–30% Trebbiano; 10–15% Greco and/or Malvasia; maximum 10% OAG
- Fiano (Wh): Minimum 85% Fiano + OANWG
ROSATO WINES
- Rosato (Ro): 70–80% Sangiovese; 10–15% Aglianico; 10–15% Piedirosso and/or Primitivo; maximum 10% OAG
RED WINES
- Rosso (Rd): 60–75% Aglianico; 15–20% Piedirosso and/or Primitivo; maximum 25% OAG
- Aglianico (Rd): Minimum 85% Aglianico + OARG
- Riserva (Aglianico)
Significant Production Rules
- Maximum vineyard elevation: 450 m (1,475 ft), except up to 550 m (1,805 ft) in the commune of Moio della Civitella
- Minimum alcohol level: 11.0% for Bianco and Rosato; 11.5% for Rosso; 12.0% for varietals
- Aging: For Aglianico, minimum 1 year (ERD = November 1, V+1); for Aglianico Riserva, minimum 3 years, including 2 years in barrel (ERD = January 1, V+4)
