WHITE WINES
  • Bianco (Wh, WhFr, WhSw, WhFrSw): Any proportions of white grape varieties approved for the region of Emilia Romagna
  • Varietals (Wh, WhFr, WhSw, WhFrSw): Minimum 85% Bombino Bianco, Chardonnay, Famoso, Garganega, Grechetto Gentile, Malvasia (Bianca di Candia, di Candia Aromatica, Istriana), Montù, Moscato, Pinot Bianco, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, or Trebbiano (Romagnolo, Toscano) + OANWG
  • Dual varietals (Wh, WhFr, WhSw, WhFrSw): Minimum 50% of first-named variety; maximum 50% of other variety
ROSATO WINES
  • Rosato (Ro, RoFr, RoSw, RoFrSw): Any proportions of red grape varieties approved for the region of Emilia Romagna
  • Dual varietals (Ro, RoFr, RoSw, RoFrSw): Minimum 50% of first-named variety; maximum 50% of other variety
RED WINES
  • Rosso (Rd, RdFr, RdSw, RdFrSw): Any proportions of red grape varieties approved for the region of Emilia Romagna
  • Varietals (Rd, RdFr, RdSw, RdFrSw): Minimum 85% Alicante, Ancellotta, Barbera, Bonarda, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Canina Nera, Centesimino, Ciliegiolo, Fortana, Malbo Gentile, Marzemino, Merlot, Negretto, Pinot Nero, Raboso Veronese, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Sangiovese, Syrah, or Uva Longanesi + OANRG

Significant Production Rules

  • Zone of production: Entire province of Ravenna
  • Minimum alcohol level: 1% for Mosto di Uve Parzialmente Fermentato (8.5% potential); 10.0% for all wines except 11.0% for Novello and 13.0% potential for Passito
  • Residual sugar: Spumante wines can be produced at any sweetness level, from brut nature (zero dosage) to dolce
  • Aging: No minimums specified
